Number of use

  • Shingle entry visa: You can enter only once within 3 months.
  • Multi entry visa: You can enter two times or unlimited during valid period.

 

Period of stay

  • Short term visa: You can stay for up to 90 days for tour, visit, etc. Visa waiver program can be applied to specific nationals.
  • Long term visa: You can stay for more than 91 days and must register at the immigration office within 90 days after entering Korea.

 

Purpose of stay

1. Residence visa

You can stay long with a visa as below.

  • Family visitor (F1)
  • Resident (F2)
  • Dependent family (F3)
  • Overseas Korean (F4)
  • Permanent resident (F5)
  • Marriage immigrant (F6)

 

2. Work visa

You can conduct a job search with a visa as below.

You must be employed with a visa as below and must depart if you fail to find a job.

 You can work with a visa as below.

  • Work and visit (H2)

You can work only for a short time with a visa as below.

You can work with a residence visa as below. You don't have to depart even if you are unemployed.

  • Resident (F2)
  • Overseas Korean (F4) except some restricted jobs like nightlife work.
  • Permanent resident (F5)
  • Marriage immigrant (F6)

 

3. Non-work visa

 

You can start a business with a visa as below.

  • Investment (D8), Trade and management (D9)
  • Overseas Korean (F4) except some restricted business like the nightlife industry
  • Permanent resident (F5)
  • Marriage immigrant (F6)
  • Resident (F2) but some subtypes need a permit for activities
  • Family visitor (F1) and dependent family (F3) need a permit for activities covered by some subtypes of D8 visa.
